Overview

MarkUp-N-Track is the browser studio for SharePoint and OneDrive PDFs. Markups bind to a Jira Cloud Drawing Task under an open Drawing Story. Jira is the system of record.

• Every markup remains a standard PDF annotation so Adobe, Bluebeam, Foxit, Edge, and Preview can still show it.
• Binding lives in Jira plus durable PDF fields, so another editor must not be required to keep the Jira link.

Opening drawings

• SharePoint Open uses the File Handler and keeps the PDF inside the library frame that invoked Open.
• The header can also open from a pasted SharePoint or OneDrive link. A library column button can pass site and path.
• The open file is kept in ?file= so refresh reopens the same drawing.
• Sample sheet is manual and hidden once SharePoint is signed in.
• Sign out of SharePoint is in the header menu.

Drawing Story title format

Stories follow:

Revision is required and always last. Overview / Schematic and the Rev token from the filename rank matching open stories.

Filename to project mapping

Default rule: pro-001-0251 → PRO10251 (prefix plus concatenated numbers, leading zeros stripped).

Enterprise config maps prefixes such as pro, ace, or hyd to a Jira site. If two sites share a project key, pick the site.

Drawing Stories and Drawing Tasks

• Search is limited to issue type Drawing Story (name configurable) with status category not Done. Tasks are the subtasks of the selected story.
• Zero matches: empty Story dropdown, optional other open stories, and in-app Create Drawing Story (plus on the title row).
• One match is selected and can be changed. Several matches require a pick. The app does not guess. A missing story after startup gets a blue border.
• A Drawing Task groups the markups and stores the SharePoint PDF hyperlink. New tasks also store a link to the current page.
• The task list expands in place. Drag the split or pin it so it does not cover the sheet. Stage counts sit on the title. Collapsed Context still shows the story title.
• Each task and the selected story have a Jira browse link. Click reuses a Jira tab; Ctrl-click opens another.
• An empty page for the current task offers a link to markups on other pages. A task with no markups can still change status.

Annotations

Tools cover comments, highlights, clouds, leaders, and shapes. The current tool stays selected until Escape returns to the pointer.

• Text boxes, rectangles, clouds, and ellipses wrap the comment to the markup rectangle and clip with an ellipsis if the box is short. The full comment is unchanged in the right-hand list. Drag to size a text box; a click drops a wrap-friendly box.
• Connected highlights use a multiply wash in the task color instead of a solid overlay.
• Bluebeam carriage returns are treated as line breaks. The same FreeText reported twice (PDF.js and pdf-lib) is merged.
• Comment text is saved so parentheses and line breaks cannot close the PDF string. If nothing is linked to a task, a full rewrite is skipped.
• A truncated comment does not blank the sheet. That page shows one lost-comment mark; debug can copy the raw unparsed comment. Open page N from the load warning jumps there.

View and keyboard

• On open, the sheet fits the pane. Fit page sits on the page bar next to zoom.
• The wheel zooms on the page and pans around it, and turns pages at the top and bottom.
• In-PDF sheet hyperlinks jump to the destination page. Sheet-code labels and go-to-sheet use the same page codes Jira references.
• Keyboard navigation covers the studio. Tooltips name the shortcuts on the controls. The full map is in Hot keys. Press ? or F1 in the app to open the same list.

Hot keys

Shortcuts do nothing while the cursor is in a field, or while a wizard or dialog is open. Ctrl and Cmd are the same. Acrobat and EPLAN columns are the familiar equivalents, not extra MarkUp-N-Track keys.

Authentication

Microsoft

Sign in with your work account before Jira. Graph opens library files and authenticated enterprise JSON. The public site publishes the domain association at /.well-known/microsoft-identity-association.json.

Jira Cloud

Normal sign-in is Atlassian OAuth (3LO). The refresh token persists and is refreshed on 401. An API token (site, email, token, test /myself) remains a fallback. Data Center is out of scope.

Enterprise config

After Microsoft sign-in, tenant JSON supplies prefix-to-site maps, issue type names, and the status color map. Save from the config step writes that map back to the SharePoint JSON link. A user override file is optional. The wizard does not open just because the config file was missed.

Status transitions

Story and Task menus load Jira’s allowed transitions for the current user. Names use the colors from enterprise config. The browser cannot force a state Jira would reject.

EPLAN add-in

An EPLAN task pane mirrors the studio’s right-hand panel (story, tasks, and status) for reviewers who start from EPLAN rather than the PDF.
